Colin is the principal of Trinity | ERD, which he founded in 1986. He is a Registered Roof Consultant with degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Law (Scotland). He has authored and presented numerous papers on roofing and building envelope subjects throughout the United States. He has received awards for outstanding publications and service to industry organizations. He holds fourteen United States and European patents for roofing and building envelope systems, the most recent of which is for a window flashing system.  

Colin is certified by the Exterior Design Institute as an EIFS Third Party Inspector and an EIFS Moisture Warranty Certified Inspector; by the US Green Building Council as a LEED Accredited Professional; and is also certified by the International Code Council as both a Residential Building Inspector and a Commercial Building Inspector.

Colin’s work includes forensic analysis of building envelopes, design of building envelope systems and the testing of building envelope components and systems.

Colin is the co-author of The Roof Construction Guide for General Contractors.
